Strategic BPI–Amesco Drug Partnership Expands Financial Access in Mindanao

Through its partnership with Amesco Drug, BPI can now reach more customers across Mindanao.

The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) continues to strengthen its commitment to financial inclusion with the onboarding of Amesco Drug as its newest May BPI Dito partner store, marking its first partnership with a Davao-based business.

With a strong presence in Davao, North Cotabato, and South Cotabato, Amesco Drug’s inclusion in BPI’s partner store network marks an important move toward making essential financial services more accessible to underserved communities in Mindanao.

This partnership transforms Amesco Drug branches into accessible banking touchpoints, allowing customers to conveniently complete everyday financial transactions without the need to visit a traditional bank branch. From account opening, deposits, and withdrawals to credit cards, loans, insurance, and investment applications, the collaboration aims to embed banking into Filipinos’ daily lives, right where they already are.

During the ceremonial signing, Rally Jereza, Head of BPI Agency Banking, emphasized the deeper purpose behind the initiative.

“At the heart of ‘May BPI Dito’ is a simple idea, we want to meet Filipinos where they already are. Our partnership with Amesco Drug brings that to life in a very real way, turning everyday community spaces into places where people can take care of both their health and their financial needs,” he shared. “It’s about making banking feel more accessible, more natural, and truly part of daily life, especially for communities across Mindanao.”

Echoing this sentiment, Andrew Uyboco, President of Amesco Drug, reflected on the unexpected but natural alignment between the two institutions. “If you had told me a few years ago that we would be partnering with BPI, I would have said ‘you’re crazy, what does a bank and a drugstore have in common?” he remarked. “But all great ideas sound crazy at first. Sometimes, it’s that ‘craziness’ that drives innovation.”

Uyboco highlighted the shared mission between BPI and Amesco Drug in serving underserved communities, underscoring the partnership as both purposeful and forward-looking. “We are honored that BPI chose to partner with us, and we hope to use this collaboration to better serve our customers,” he added, closing with the brand’s signature line: “Basta Amesco, mas kumpleto, hanep sa serbisyo, dahil may BPI na dito.”

As part of the rollout, all 25 Amesco Drug branches now have BPI product application capabilities. At present, the Toril, DLPC, and Buhangin branches already provide deposit and withdrawal services, while more locations are set to follow soon.

By bridging healthcare access points with financial services, BPI and Amesco Drug are redefining how communities engage with banking, making it more convenient, inclusive, and integrated into everyday life. May BPI Dito currently has a network of over 7,000 partner stores nationwide, with its footprint still growing.
